Kimono calling

Last Spring, Summer and Autumn I lived in kimonos, it was the year of the kimono for me!  

They just made everything sexy, glamorous, edgy, carefree and chill without even trying. 

I wore them everywhere. EVERYWHERE lol.

The love affair with kimonos continues and I am always looking to add to my collection.

 Kimonos just change the dimensions of an outfit and elevate the whole look.
They are dramatic, elegant and so diverse.
Which is why I have a collection, options are needed!

The whole spend less idea is working so far but when I saw these two and I couldn't resist.

Plus they were bargains!

Far Eastern Vibes

Vintage Asian kimono sourced by Miss Pigeons Wardrobe. £18 

This shop is a recent discovery for me and I am so happy I found it. 

It is so important to support small businesses and the individuality they bring. My kimono was in excellent condition and smelt good - key with vintage . Very quick delivery etc. They have some really nice one off pieces and the photography is beauts! I will be heading back when the bank allows.

This piece really caught my eye.
The flowers against that black and silvery white background is so eye cathing and gorgeous. This definitely is staple piece. It can be dressed up for dinner with heels and LBD or down with ripped jeans and a tank top.
 It could even be worn as a wrap around dress with a belt, as it is a little over sized.
 This type of kimono is a very bold piece. Let this and confidence be your main accessories!

I adore fringing and have been looking for one in monochrome. This links in nicely with the re-emergence of the 70's trend and gives me the option of sticking my toe in without going all out, hippy dippy fringe swinging in the sun vibe.
Instead this is a modern take which can be dressed up or down and will look amazing with a splash of colour and suede ankle boots .

I am always on the look out for kimonos and beach cover ups ( which i use as kimonos) and tend to get some great deals out of season.

Collective Homeware Haul SS14

Hi Lovers,

Homeware is my weakness right now! 

Homeware haul vlogs, blogs, websites mmmhhh it's just making me very excited atm!

Accessories in particular are a firm fav of mine as I am mainly buying for my room.

 So here are a few things I have picked up in the last few months.

Phrenology bust TK Maxx £5.99. I have always been obsessed with phrenology busts and had a poster when I was younger. I have even incorporated a custom design bust for a pitch at work! When I saw this I just had to have it! This is the medium , I wanted the bigger one but I couldn't find one that didn't have blemishes so I got this one which fits perfectly on my shelf.

I was actually,  reminded of my love for them when reading The Mesmerist by Barbara Ewing. Which I picked up a few years back in Poundland 2 for 1 sale. It's a very good read too!

Tesco tea light candle holders £1 each aka my new whiskey tumblers. I actually saw these ages ago in the clearance section but didn't get them and they had gone by the time I returned a week later. Luckily after checking their Homeware section there were a few in stock and I bagged 4.

Primark red berry and jasmine tealights £1.50. I do like a scented candle and these Berry & Jasmine candles are lovely and fragrant. I also picked up some pineapple & Ginger ones for 50p! Very exciting times as they are my fav autumn/winter primark candles.

D.I.Y tip: The Ginger and pineapple ones don't have that much of a scent when burning but smell incredibly pungent when they are not burning. So if you break them up and  leave them in draws or your closet they do give a nice fragrant and long lasting scent.

Primark home throw £4. I actually bought this months ago and I am in love with this minty teal tone. It is perfect for spring when it is still a little chilly at night. Throws are an easy way to change up the style of your space without changing your whole scheme.

Ikea SNABBVINGE cushion case £4. 
I originally bought this to trial in our 
living room but decided to use it as an accent cushion in my room. The colour and design really work well with my spring\summer bed linens but are will equally work well all year round. I also picked up a pillow which I folded in half and inserted a old cushion pillow in the middle. I like to pile my pillows high at night and require a certain level of firmness hence using 2 different fillers. It adds a really calming and sophisticated playfulness to the overall look of my room.

Last but not least, my Matalan initial mug. That every Blogger accessory necessity! I have had a few initial mugs over the years but my fav one was broken in a very mysterious event (Twas all very lemony snickets)! I always find something good in Matalan and headed over there to see what I could find. This is smaller than I would usually go for. I prefer my mugs to be a little bigger or oversized but you can't go wrong with monochrome and at £2 it is an undeniable bargain. I do like a mug and this is a nice addition to the collection.

I saw this really cute and chic watch at the beginning of the year on The Black Pearl Blog  and immediately went and got myself one.

She also purchased a minty pastel colour which I would have also gone for but wanted to test the quality first.(a moment of  restraint o.O lol).

I have had the watch since mid January and it has been used A LOT and i am not a watch person!

I don't often wear watches but I do like them more now I am older and for testing purposes I rinsed this watch to the max.

Geneva royal blue silicone jelly watch

This watch is so nice, it is an electric royal blue which is very on trend and a cool alternative to black. The silicone straps lend it a nice sports luxe feel, while the rose gold face and numerals give it an expensive feel. I paid less than £3 and couldn't be happier. There has been no damage or wear and tear at all and this includes occasionally being worn with the  face being reversed inside my wrist- I am weird it's cool.

I have received soooooo many compliments with this bargainous piece and I feel like my fingers are twitching for the minty one. I can't say this will improve my occasional bouts of questionable lateness but they sure are pretty.

Well hello there 2014 (haul)

Hi Lovelies its is my first post and haul of the year! 

Happy 2014!!!

 I went out for a new work/ every day black tote bag and came back with er'thang but a black tote. Hehe famous last words.

This haul started out as things I actually needed and ended up like so.....well what I want and what I need is pretty much the same ish.

These are actually repurchases that have become a daily part of my skincare base routine. Superdrugs had a promotion on B. pure and as one of the bottles was slightly dented I got another discount. As my skin worked so well with the Naturally radiant range, I decided to add their day cream to the mix. It is has a good level of absorbency ,is light and on sale here.

Who doesn't love a bit of LUSSSSSSSSSSHHH?!  I stopped by the Brent Cross branch and practically yanked my friend Nikki inside for some lush loving. I limited myself to 2 things that I actually needed. I know I know, I went in and came out with nary a bath bomb but as you will see in my last post and below I have enough to be getting on with.

I stocked up on  Mask of Magnaminty which is currently working wonders on my face as I type.It smells sooo good. This mask has gained cult status in the blogesphere and with good reason. My skin always looks refreshed and feels so silky after using it. It also contains some of my fav scents in the world. Vanilla and peppermint. 

Quick tip: I leave mine in the fridge and have never had any problems with mold.

My second purchase was Tea tree Water . It is good for so many things such as normal toner, face refresher, makeup setter the list goes on. The combination of tea tree , juniper berry and grapefruit work perfectly together. If you have oily or spot prone skin this is a definite must have! the tea tree is very nurturing and doesn't dry or strip the skin. It is perfect for all skin types.

Another one of my old favs is The Body Shop. Once again I limited myself to shit I need yo. because I am a grown up like that lol Anything Vanilla in the body shop is up my street. I am all about it. When I saw the body mist on sale my eyes literally popped out my head,I loooooove it. I used to go in to the body shop everyday on my way to school and spritz myself shhhh.

I have mentioned the Hemp hand protector before on here and It really is a god send but they didn't reduce this one iota in the sales which was disappointing - rather annoyed. I still bought it as it lasts me a long while and our winter weather is horrid right now. Luckily I got a 20% discount as I purchased 4 things. If you haven't tried the strawberry body polish go and smell it, its divine.

I have never paid too much attention to Zara perfumes but boy oh boy am I now! On my quest to find a suitable black tote I stopped off at Zara and my eye was immediately caught by the perfumes as I looked at jewellery.

I am not a massive perfume girl. I usually have 4-5 signature perfumes on the go that last me ages and I usually prefer mens stuff such as Armani code unless its my Chanel, daisy or obsession. I am not a big fan of super sweet scents and love bergamot and sandalwood notes found usually in mens stuff.

I picked up Black peony which is very heady and has notes of bergamot, vanilla and sandalwood, which appeal to me. Likened to Viktor Rolfs Flowerbomb with less sweetness it  is a little intense for some and mostly recommended for sultry evenings but I would where it anytime. It is a gorgeous scent. I also got Oriental which also has notes of vanilla, floral and wood. Its less intense than Black peony and a beautiful fragrance which works well with me. Analysis here  Both were under £10 each and are great bang for buck. The packaging is very nice and good quality all round. I will definitely be going back for more.

Nike Blazer Mid Twist  Grey Suede

I am not much of a trainer girl and I wanted something that would incorporate style as well as function. I got these at the London designer outlet in Wembley which is not to far away from me for a bargainous £45! These can sell for up to £120 so I am very happy with my discount. I haven't seem many people wearing them which is good and I went for a dusky grey which goes with a lot. I love the snake skin detailing and ankle wrap around feature. The laces are a little unusual and don't actually let you tie them yourself. They are made of elastic material and are pre -tied.

I picked up an xoxo bracelet and bird bracelet set in the sales. I also picked up a lovely set of triple arrow studs. They have a military-esque feel to them.

Sorry Guys I didn't realise how creased the bottom of my cardi was. I picked these 2 items in the primark sales. I love a cardigan and this one is just a classic piece. It is just below bum length and close knitted with a round neck. The ares are a little dropped which gives it a coatigan effect.

I also had to get these boots as I saw them when they first came out and totally forgot about them as they usually sell out in my size quickly. Luckily My friend found the last pair or me and I snapped them up. I have a love affair with the 90's and cleated soles are my thing. Tartan is always trendy and with this rainy weather a nice pair of toasty toe warmers.

 

Notebook

And finally a notebook. I like to start of the year with a fresh note one and this one is so purtay. It has recycled paper so I am helping the earth and only cost £1 in the pound shop! I know too good to be true.

Its been a bit of a long one but I hope you saw some cool ideas and have been having a good new year thus far.

Are you that primark? (Haul)



Primark can be sooooooo hit and miss its crazy. But when they get it right they get it right and go hard. What I have seen of their SS12/ AW12 collections have been really nice. I have been finding some really nice gems in Primark of late. Nice enough for me to want to line up in sweaty conditions for a good 15 minutes. The women's department is a bit of a shambles but the men's t- shirts and vests have stepped up!! Got me a few bargains for those rare sunny days. I went in for one thing, a pair of beautiful pastel blue sandals and unfortunately they didn't have them in my size anymore and extra kicks in the teeth they had been reduced to £2!!!  *roars and dies*.

Anyways I was in the shop so I decided to have a look through and I found a few good bits. I had too much stuff so I have only shown a few pieces as I got very lazy very quickly. I never try to find a whole outfit in Primark; I stick to individual pieces and accessories then mix and match with other stores and labels. A lot of their stuff for me is throw away fashion so I don't mind if I chuck it away after a few months or ruin it at festivals etc. Not all of their stuff is of bad quality, I find most of their knit wear and jersey products last for ages.

I am really into layering, prints and giving outfits a more textured feel. Don't be afraid to print clash and add fine knits to keep an outfit warm yet stylish without bulking up. Mix and match things such as the loose knit jumper and the high low skirt with a button up shirt for a day time look. Or the neon sandals, Tokyo t-shirt and maxi for a relaxed day in the park. Also try experimenting. If you really like an item but it is slightly off when you try it on customise! I will probably cut the second strap of my sandals and keep them to add to a clutch bag for a neon sports luxe feel.

Sour Cherry Jewellery

I am constantly on the look out for small artisan designers and companies who are bringing something new and exciting to the table. I think it is incredibly important to support those grass roots companies and their entrepreneurial spirits, especially young British designers.

Kayleigh Walker launched  Sour Cherry  in 2009 in Sheffield and has displayed a talent for creating original kitsch, quirky and innovative pieces. She has taken advantage of e-retail and has many shops online and  can also be be found at many craft fairs and markets.

I bought my first piece of Sour Cherry jewellery a few weeks ago and I am absolutely delighted. 
I had about 10 things in my cart but reigning in my glee,I decided  to buy one piece to test drive quality etc. 
Very grown up of me I know!! I am so pleased with my necklace, I bought the GEEK necklace with a silver chain. (You have a option of gold) and haven't stopped wearing it since it arrived. 
Its cute, edgy, modern and a classic piece, loves it. 
I heard about this company about 2 years ago and saw a few pieces at an event outside London but the gods conspired against me and I wasn't able to buy anything at the time :-(

 The items are incredible affordable and there is definitely something for everyone. 
I will be purchasing many more pieces from sour cherry and making this company a legitimate part of my five a day

Miz Outlet haul

So I heard about this Chinese - American online company called Miz Outlet that sell cheap and quality products, ranging from hair accessories, makeup and jewellery. I checked out a few vlogs and saw some good feedback especially from Lizlizlive from London so I thought I would try them out. Love a bargain me lol

This was my first order placed and I have to say they were very quick. I received my order in less than a week and many of the pieces look even better in real life!  All the products below are less than $2 each.

Having gone back to the site I have seen so many more pairs that I want. there really is something for everyone on there. There are also a few items that I personally find tacky but as with every place there will be things not to your taste. So will love everything or be like me and pick through. It is a case of in a few months or years I will literally look at these item and hate them.

 I have heard alot about L.A colours from friends in America where there is a wider range, so I decided to try theirs out. I have many of their nail varnishes so I expected great quality and wasn't disappointed. I love the baked palette it was very rich. However I haven't applied it for a  proper trial run so I am not sure of the intensity and staying power yet. I personally would use he Klean colour blush/bronzer as a highlighter as in real life it appears to have pinkish tones which may make deeper skin tones appear ashy.

 I have chubby fingers, like proper weird hands! Its a curse really. Finding rings that fit can be a bit hit and miss they are either small or freakishly big. So finding nice rings that are adjustable is always a bonus and these are just beauts. I love statement rings and the reddish coral will look gorgeous in the sun.

The product turnover  rate is pretty high so you have to get in there quickly to avoid disappointment. I paid $11 for postage which is approximately £5 which is pretty good. The items come well packed and are cushioned appropriately for international travel.

I am totally loving Miz Outlet and will definitely be going back for more accessorise and maybe a few make items at those prices I can afford to go wild! Check them out for yourselves guys.
